Best Mouse Trap Bait

This is another search question that lead someone to my website. I was kind of surprised by it, but I am more than happy to help.
You can use just about anything as mouse trap bait. The two top things that most people use is cheese or peanut butter. I personally use cheese. It works pretty darn good.
I’ve known someone who caught a mouse in a mouse trap using pepperoni.
It’s mostly trial and error with this type of stuff, but I think your safe bet would be to use cheese. Then secondly peanut butter.
If you’re using a humane trap, you could always try the mouse bait advertised on this post. I don’t think it’d work for a regular trap, though.

Cheese never works. The store bought stuff too waxed over to give off a smell, and it doesn’t decompose well. Toasted peanut butter has worked every time for me. I head about it from a restaurant owner who has caught hundreds with it. I personally have caught over 20. Bananas also work really, really well. Slice off the tip, put it in the trap, and as it ripens, it gets more and more aromatic, and more and more sweet. The only problem with sliced bananas is you need to change them out every couple of days. But, they’re highly effective. Soda pop is good too.
Aaron,
I’d like to mention that I have caught mice using cheese on a trap. If not cheese, then peanut butter has always done the trick in my household. I’m sure everyone has their own preference, though.
We had a mouse in our house. I saw him every night but could not catch him with peanut butter. He would actually scoot around the trap at high speed. Guess what we caught him with. Ranch dressing! He may have just been a strange mouse though.
Kevin,
I would believe it. That is the first time I’ve heard of ranch dressing doing the trick! I once heard of someone using pepperoni. Some mice have odd tastes.
