Buyer/Seller Auction Etiquette
To go along with the auction theme started on Monday, today I want to talk a little more about auctions and things that you need to know.
If you’re a regular on any auction site, then the chances are that you already know the appropriate etiquette for when you’re buying from someone, or selling something yourself. If you’re just starting in the auction world, then their are a few things you might not know.
- If you’re considering bidding [or purchasing] sometime on any auction site, but you have a question about it, click the link that you’ll usually find with the sellers info to contact them. Before you even bid or purchase the item, make sure you have no questions about it before you commit yourself to it.
- If you’ve just sold an item, don’t hesitate to update the buyer on the shipping progress. Let them know once you’ve received their payment, let them know when you’re going to be shipping the item, let them know when it has been shipped off.
- If you’ve just purchased and item, you will need to update the buyer just as much as they should be updating you. Let them know once you’ve sent your payment, ask questions if you have any [i.e. shipping date], and definitely let the seller know when you’ve received the item.
- Once everything has been sent or received, it’s time to leave feedback on the person. Were they prompt on shipping? Did the buyer send a prompt payment? Was their good communication? If your experience with the person was positive, mention that. If their were a lot of problems, don’t be afraid to mention that either. Other people tend to judge the person they’re buying from [or selling to] by the comments left by those that had already experienced buying/selling through them. So definitely be honest.
Their is no reason to be afraid of selling anything through auction online. As long as you follow through with the right steps, you’ll be alright.
