Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain

Thanksgiving has past and now we’ve got to worry about those pesky Christmas pounds. Although Thanksgiving is notorious for weight gain, most of that can be worked off the next day during Black Friday.

Christmas has those great, yummy, fruit cakes with egg nog, gingerbread cookies, etc. They all taste great, they’re all loved, they are all filled with calories. Their’s no reason to worry, though. These holiday things are meant to be enjoyed and even those on diets can too.

The problem most people have is moderation. All things are fine in moderation, but drinking a whole half gallon of egg nog is not good for you. A small glass won’t hurt, though. Just use it as a way to treat yourself and cut out some of your other unnecessary calories to help make up for it. Just don’t make the cookie, glass of egg nog or fruit cake a daily thing. Choose only your favorite and limit yourself to once or twice a week.

If you’re looking for another way to offset any holiday weight gain, exercise. And on the day you have that small glass of egg nog, jog a little longer, exercise for a little longer.

Don’t get the diet blues this holiday season, just remember moderation is good and a little exercise will help a lot too!
