Since it is New Years Eve, I really wanted to make todays advice a bit more like a reminder. Please, if you drink, do not drive. Check around in your local neighborhood and see if your local bus system [or taxi service] will be running and to what time it will be. That way, if you need a ride home after drinking too much you will have that option.

If you don’t have a bus or taxi service, see if you have a friend or family member who can drive you home from the bar or party that you go to. If you carpool to a party, bring along a friend that doesn’t drink or doesn’t intend to drink. That way they can be the designated driver.

On the other hand, if you plan to go to a party at someones house, see if they will let you sleep it off at their home before you leave. If that is not an option and the options above are not going to work out for you, don’t go to that party.

And last but not least, stay home and drink. At least if you are at home you can get as drunk as you want, pass out, and you won’t have to worry about the drive home. Maybe even have a few friends over to drink with you and let them pass out at your place so they won’t be driving while drunk either.
