Why Is Digg Good For Your Blog?

Their are many different aspects to growing the popularity of a blog. One of those aspects is the help received from other websites.

Digg is a website where readers can “digg” an article or post they’ve read on another website as one they find useful, informative or they just plan like. When that post gets dugg, it puts it in digg where it can then be dugg by others who also like that post. The more diggs it gets, the higher it goes in the rankings. The highest dugg posts make it to the front page to be seen by everyone who visits. Thus growing the popularity of the blog that originally wrote the post.

Some of the benefits from having your posts dugg includes:

  • New readers. More people will be coming to your website to read that dugg article, or to check out what else you have. You can bring in many new potential visitors and you don’t have to pay for it.
  • Find out what your readers really think. Their are many different opinions about things. This is where people who have other opinions on what you might have written about will share them. And you’ll get to hear what everyone things. In a way this should push you to make sure you have a truly open post that is welcoming to all thoughts. On the other hand, it’s a great way for you to let others know how you feel. Like minded people will flock to you. And you’ll get to learn a little something about the other side as well.
  • This is a way to find out what type of support you really do have. If you’re not someone who stays completely in tune with the people that visit your blog, finding out what posts of yours gets dugg will tell you what your readers are the most interested in. Those might be good topics to reach back into at a later time.

The Do Nots of Digg

Multiple accounts is a big no-no. Whether it’s you or someone else using multiple accounts to dig your posts it can actually end in your blog being banned. I have heard of this happening before and it should not be done. So if you’re thinking about cheating, think again. After all, the best response is when it’s a natural one that you deserve because your post was just that good.

You don’t have to do much to get seen by digg. Just offer your readers the opportunity to digg your posts and see where it can go. It might surprise you.
