Staying Active At The Office

When you find yourself working long hours, spending a lot of time sitting at a desk, staying even a little active is kind of hard to do. I’m not saying you need to go out and run a marathon at lunch time, but you can however do a few little things that will flex a muscle or two in your body while getting some work done.
- Get up from your desk every so often and pace your office a little. Just give your legs a chance to stretch sometimes. They need it, you need it.
- Hand weights next to the desk. That’s right, while something loads or downloads take a moment and use them. You can sit at your desk while giving your arms a little exercise. You don’t have to start lifting 100lbs, but you can use a 5lb or 10lb hand weight to tone them up a little. All while staying at work.
- We’ve heard people sing the praises of those exercise balls. Even just sitting on one can be good for you. It works on those stomach muscles. Get one for your office. Obviously a desk might be too tall to sit at it on the exerball, but it doesn’t hurt to give it a try.
- They resemble a very large rubber band. It’s an exercise band that can be used in a variety of ways for a variety of exercises. Using one can let you get in a little exercise in a variety of ways while sitting or standing. A fun option while at work.
Hopefully these few tips will come in handy in your own office. Whether you work in a large office building or from your home. You never know how much that little bit of activity can help you out, until you give it a try.
