The Eternal Question: Am I Ready For Parenthood?
I was already pregnant before I asked that question. While that sentence might start the finger pointing, I still feel it was an important question to ask myself, with an equally important answer.
Some people struggle with the decision to start a family. They might want a child but never feel secure enough to take that step. Others get in the position of starting a family, then find themselves having to face the ultimate question:
Am I ready for parenthood?
When I answered that question, I honestly answered with a maybe. I love my little girl with all of my heart, so it worked out for the best in my situation. I work hard to make money and I do everything I can for her. In every ounce of my being, I am a mom. I’m not perfect. It didn’t take me long to figure out that I would need to adjust at any given time, as my daughter gets older.
Do you need a dose of reality? Ask someone who has been there. Ask someone at each stage of parenthood, from the new mom or dad to the parent of an adult. Each parent has their own set of lessons that they learned along the way. Each lesson will further open your eyes to the reality of parenthood. Then, when you are ready, you can answer the title question for yourself. Are you ready for parenthood?
