What Drives You To Write?
One of my favorite twitpals happens to be the Providence Social Media Examiner at examiner.com. The moment I realized it, I was awestruck. You couldn’t find a more suited writer to fit into that position.
That also inspired me to write this.
For over a year now I have found myself stopping in to examiner.com periodically. I look at that “write for us” button and I consider clicking on it.
Examiner.com is filled with talented writers that talk about their “specialties",” from celebrities to business. Each person comes from their own location and they all seem like the perfect person for their category.
The point? I would love to be one of those examiners. They’re knowledgeable, they’re interesting, and it is one of my motivators for writing. I have more than one thing that drives me but reaching a level where I am ready to apply as an examiner is one of them.
In everyday life people have their own motivations that keep them going, writers are no different. Even professional writers need a little motivation. It could be financial, it might be pride, but it motivates them to do what they do.
Some people might view motivation as a crutch, something that cripples what you do as a writer, rather than view it as a passion that helps drive you. I don’t and neither should you.
Your motivation can be simple or it can be complex. Either way, by identifying your motivation you will only add value to your writing.
