I always feel a sense of excitement, pride even, when I interview a self-made entrepreneur that also happens to be a mom.
Today I had the opportunity to post an interview I had done with one such woman on a client’s website. She saw an opportunity and grabbed at it. Now she is working hard to grow a business while raising a family.
I admire the determination that mompreneurs have. It’s not easy to make it all work, believe me I know, but yet these women still do it. Its simply amazing.
That’s …

Some people don’t like smart phones and some only use iPhones. I, however, can vouch for the Blackberry.
Approximately one week ago I updated to a Blackberry. It is a great addition for this freelancer that needs to stay on top of her clients needs. Instead of not responding to a client for hours or even days because I am unavailable, I can message them back in minutes. Of course it isn’t all work, the wordpress app makes it possible for me to update directly from my phone at any time. …

I am in school and freelancing. As you can imagine that means my schedule can get a little ridiculous. Between my livelihood and something I am determined to do (and do well), I simply lose track of time.
Before I decided to go to college my days were pretty balanced. I had the time I needed for an extracurricular activity or two, work and plenty of time to spend with my daughter. Now that I’m getting used to the change of pace that school has required me …

Today I was sitting at the coffee shop trying to get some schoolwork done when I met a nice lady from out of town and struck up a conversation with her. She asked me about school and what degree I was going for, as it turns out she has her BS in nursing. She went on to say that a business degree is a great thing to have because there are so many opportunities for people that specialize in it.
That wasn’t the first time I’ve heard someone talk …

For the last few years I have been looking at ways to go back to school that would allow me to still have time for work and for my daughter. A friend told me about the school she was going through so I decided to look into it and eventually signed up. I am now officially back in school, taking courses from home through the University of Phoenix online classroom.
My course of study? I am working towards my Associate of Arts with a concentration in Foundations of …
American Chronicle, Featured »
As I get back behind the keyboard to start writing again, I decided to kick things off with a new article at the American Chronicle. This time I take a look at the rise in popularity for direct sales (as employment opportunities continue to wane) and offer a few tips to those that might be considering that type of opportunity.
At a time when employment seems to be the unsecured option, some people have decided to take their income into their own hands. In business and, more specifically, in …

Lets face it, many inventors just starting out have to bootstrap to get their product to the market. Before you can go all of the way, you’ll want to test your product on the people you are hoping will buy it!
My latest article for the American Chronicle covers the topic of choosing a product test group and some ideas to help you get started.
So, you have created a new product and have a limited number of samples to work with. You feel it is innovative and there is no …

Yesterday I covered what was a byproduct from this very article. Today I am ready to announce that I have published yet another article at the American Chronicle and it is called: Hobby To Business: Good Business Sense Or Craft Killer?
Here is your taste:
Some people have been able to take their hobby, make it a business, and still love it at the end of the day. Other would-be entrepreneurs aren’t nearly as lucky. The truth is that it takes work to create a business and that is no different for …

Unfortunately I only ever wrote one article for the American Chronicle after I joined in October of last year. I was unable to find the time to write something new, until recently. Yesterday I published a new article on their website and it is called, “Why You’re On Twitter (& What You Can Do About It!)” for businesses.
Articles talking about the success businesses have had on the networking site are everywhere. While they make it seem like sales will increase just by joining, I know better. In my article …
