Divorce and Separation

“What is the difference between divorce and seperation?

Sad Stacy”

Stacy,

On of the biggest differences between divorce and separation is cost. When I did a google search I came up with this. It might help when it comes to learning about the different aspects of divorce. As for separation, it is pretty much free.

I’ve never been married, so I don’t know a whole lot about this topic. What I can tell you is that in most cases, those that go for separation usually have the hope of working their problems out. People who go for divorce don’t have any intention of working it out.

For a lot of people divorce is the best thing to do. If someone gets divorced, the hope is that they’ll think twice before marrying again. Being more careful about taking the big leap into married life a second time.

Then their are people that just need some time to think about their problems and think about if they could mend their relationship. Separation can be the best thing for them. A short period of time away from their partners could give them the time they need to figure out if they are still in love with their significant other, or if maybe it is time to cut loose from the marriage and move on. Sometimes with separation their can also be marriage counceling to hopefully figure out the problem in the relationship that is making them so unhappy. Obviously once it hits divorce they’re not trying to keep it together anymore so they aren’t going through the counceling (though they might have earlier in the relationship).

So in ending, Divorce means a definate end of the relationship and separation is only a temporary end until the two parties figure out what they want to do.
