Buying For Your Family On A Budget

hose with children often know that things they need do not come cheap. Food, clothes, and toys. They all take money. Sometimes it takes more than what we actually have. That is why buying things you and your children need while keeping a budget is a must!

Your first step to buying on a budget would be to use coupons. Though they can be mildly annoying, they can save you a bundle! Just by simply going through the ads you get in the mail or by looking at the ads in your local newspaper, you can find plenty of coupons to help discount some of your most used items.

If you want more coupons you can also search online for online coupon exchanges. These are great. People that have no use for a certain coupon are willing to send the coupon to you. At times they mail the coupon you want at no charge, or sometimes they just ask for the cost of a stamp. Even then, you are still receiving a $.50 or $1.00 coupon that will still be worth the cost when you get that saving on an item you need.

While you’re searching, look up the company websites of some of the things you use most. Some companies offer printable coupons. If you don’t want to do that, you can also look on the back of items for their mailing address. Then if you write and tell them how much you enjoy their product, they sometimes will send you free samples and free coupons. Free things that you can use of a product you already enjoy!

Another great way for a parent to save money is during clearance season! Clearance hunting can be extremely fun, and rewarding. You can buy that outfit that cost $20 earlier this year for them to wear next year at only $10. A perfectly good $10 outfit suddenly becomes a wonderful $5 outfit. Buying clearance for the next year when it comes to clothes, is the best way to make sure your kid will be dressed great when the next year does come.

Clearance hunting isn’t just for finding clothes. You can find clearance food items as well. Most stores, like Meijers, offers a rack in the back of the store with discounted foods on it. Most of the time there is nothing wrong with them. They might be simply nearing their expiration date, or the store is not planning to buy more of a certain item.

If you wait for the after holiday sales, you can get even more things! One year a store offered boxes of valentines for $.10 each. Down from approximately $2. Buying them at that price means you won’t have to buy valentines at full price any time soon! How about Halloween? Discount costumes after the holiday is over means you can buy a costume for your child to wear the next year at half price!

If you’re clearance hunting and it hasn’t quite hit clearance season yet, you can also get your clearance fix at local clearance stores. They specialize in items that other stores wanted to get rid off, and they sell them at greatly reduced prices. The most common clearance store, that most people know of, would be Big Lots. If you look around, they can have some wonderful deals. Discount bedding, discount toys, and many other things are available.

Thrift shops are another way that good items at cheap prices can be found. Going to a thrift shop you might find a decent pair of shoes at a steal of a price. Their’s nothing better than paying $3-$4 for a pair of shoes that usually case $20-$30. If you have a teen and they need some new jeans, go to a thrift shop. You won’t find many jeans at those discount costs elsewhere, and sometimes they can even be name brand.

When your child is still a child, and you need to get them new clothes at the cheapest price possible, a good choice would be to visit a dollar store. Some places, like Family Dollar, offer some of the cutest toddler outfits at a low price. Who wouldn’t enjoy a cute $5 outfit for their child without having to wait for clearance time to come? You can get them cheap all year round!

The last resort is a good one if it is the right time of year. Their is gold to be found in yard sales. Not only can you find some of the cheapest clothing for only $.50, you can also get more important things like nice couches or TV’s for just $10! Nothing can beat a yard sale price. That is why so many people like to go to them.

If done right, being a parent on a budget is possible. Doing so can save you lots of money and lots of trouble. Then you will have money for more important things, like gas for your car or maintenance that you might need done. Or, best of all, you will have a few extra dollars to set aside for when you do need it!
