Dealing With A Bully At School

hances are that, if you’re in school, you’ve probably faced trouble with a bully at one time or another. It’s a sad thing, but unfortunately not everyone can get along. How you react to the situation can make or break you.

If someone is being a real jerk towards you, ignore them. I know, it’s the oldest thing said but it’s true. Their words have no meaning, and chances are that they’re full of it. Words may hurt you, but prove you’re the bigger person by walking away. It will show them that their words have no merit or meaning to you. It will prove, in it’s own way, that you are better than them.

It also helps if you have an understanding of why this person is so cruel. I know, the last thing you want to do is to sympathize with a person who is mean to you but it will give you a better understanding. Sometimes the bully could suffer from a simple jealousy of you, or it could be deeper. Their are times where a person is mean to others, because they don’t have any positive in their life. Their’s a good chance that they are bullied as well, which makes them act out, or they could have problems at home which makes them want to act out on people at school. Which gives them the bully reputation. In general though, bully’s are bully’s because they feel better about themselves by putting others down. It is not right, but that is what usually goes through their minds.

If the bullying is physical, tell a teacher or your principle. Explain to them that this person is hitting you for no reason. They can help you get something done. If that doesn’t work, tell your parent(s). Most of all, though, know how to defend yourself in a physical situation. You deserve to defend yourself.

In the end, I hope my advice will help you. If you’re being bullied, I hope you have enough understanding to do what is best. I know it can hurt when people say cruel words to you, but you have no reason to let them get to you. If you take the time to figure out why they are the way they are, then you will understand much more fully why their words have no true merit.
