Common Conversation Topics With New Friends

Woman Taking NotesWhen you meet someone new, it’s not always simple to figure out what the two of you should talk about.  With a little before thought, you can solve that problem.

If you meet someone new, what is it that you’re most likely to want to talk about?  Since you know absolutely nothing about this person, ask them about themselves.  What’s their favorite food?  What types of things are they interested in?  Do they have a hobby?  Ask questions to learn more about them.  Then if you have something in common with eachother, talk about it!  If you find something in common, it can be the best conversation to have with someone you don’t really know.

Most of all, if you don’t feel comfortable chatting with this person, go with your instincts and don’t.  You don’t actually have to talk to any new friends or aquaintences unless you want to.

Yes, people definitely like talking about themselves. I find that asking open ended questions work the best and always spur more questions or other conversation. I went out with a new friend last Saturday and we talked for 3 hours!

That’s an excellent idea! I’m glad that it worked for you and your new friend! 3 hours is quite some time to be able to talk to someone you don’t know. I’m impressed :D

I would also like to thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you around here again!
