Menopause: What You Should Know

Though not all of us are going to be hitting it any time soon, it will happen someday.  Before something as life changing as that [which we can't control] happens, we want to be prepared.  That is the best thing.  If you know what will come, and you’re ready, you will know enough of what can happen to you that you won’t be scared.

What Is Menopause?

I found a great website that seems to have plenty of basic info on menopause.  The question is linked to the site.  I recommend checking it out.  As for here, I’ll quote some of the info that will explain menopause to you.

Menopause is the term given to the last menstrual period, and is said to have occurred when a woman has not had a period for 12 months.

If you do stop bleeding for 12 months and then start again it is advisable to see a doctor.

Menopause happens because women run out of eggs and their ovaries stop producing the hormones oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. It generally occurs around 50-51 years of age but can happen anywhere from 40 - 65 years of age.

By knowing what will come in the future, you can be prepared for it know.  Don’t go into menopause blindly.  Learn what you can, so when it does happen you can say, “Hrm… not as bad as I thought!” :)
