Keeping Your Gallbladder Healthy

When I was 20 years old I had to go to the ER due to a gallbladder infection which led to me having my gallbladder removed a month later. I happened to not have insurance so now I owe approximately $15k. That’s a lot of money for someone who doesn’t have much money.

One thing I have learned about gallbladders since that instance was what exactly can help keep it healthy. I feel that more people should be told how to keep their gallbladder healthy before it can become a problem.

So my very first tip on how to keep your gallbladder healthy would be to keep away from the greasy foods. Your gallbladder is an organ that kind of works as an extra stomach. It helps break down those extra fatty foods when you eat them. If you’re leading a very unhealthy lifestyle when it comes to the food you eat, then that’s all the extra work your gallbladder has to do. By eating healthier things, your gallbladder has less of a chance of becoming infected or needing removed.

One food that a doctor recommended to me was white rice. Rice like that isn’t very fatty and it’s good for you. Rice can be delicious too.

Another recommendation I have is eating more veggies. They’re also very healthy and can taste very good.

Lastly, steer clear of greasy pizza and other bad foods. It doesn’t mean that you can’t have some once in a blue moon, just don’t eat them regularly.
