Fun To Learn Numbers: For Your Toddler

Their are many different ways to help your child learn how to count. Their are hands on types like flash cards or coloring books that’ll help your child learn their numbers. Their are also videos and cartoons that can help them as well.

When you’re ready to start teaching your child how to count, it is best to take the approach that your child will enjoy. To find that approach, you can try a little bit of everything.

Sitting down with your child, you can draw the number and tell them what it is. Even let them hold the pencil [or crayon] and you guide their hand when the number is drawn and tell them what it is. It can be a little bit time consuming, but you might find that your child likes this hands on approach with their mommy or daddy and catch on quickly to what they’re learning.

Another approach can be to read your child books that have to do with counting. Rhymes are lots of fun, like: One, Two, Buckle your shoe… etc.

If reading books doesn’t really get it, you can always get your child a coloring book that has to do with numbers. Especially if your child is really into coloring. Then you can tell your child the number they’re coloring as they color it.

If you find that those hands on approaches aren’t really working out for you, you can always take the video or cartoon approach. By watching cartoons that they enjoy and also include counting in them [for example Dora the Explorer or Diego], they can pick up on it by being interactive with them. Then when the cartoons or videos aren’t in you can work with your child on counting when they’re not watching their favorite characters do it.

As you can see, their are different ways that can help you get the same end result. It doesn’t have to feel like work for you or your child for them to pick up on how to count.
