Preventing Cavities
As someone who is uninsured, I definitely know how important it is to take care of your teeth so you won’t have to worry about paying out of pocket for a dentist. Today I wanted to share with you a few things that can help.
- Brush your teeth twice a day. I know it’s a popular thing that we’ve been told all our lives, and it is a good idea to stick with it.
- You know how the dentist always likes to ask, “Do you floss daily?” Well it’s because it’s good to floss. That’s a great way to get food out that might end up stuck between your teeth.
- Mouthwash is your friend. And if you’re going to go out and buy some mouthwash, consider getting Listerine’s tooth defense mouthwash. I asked a dentist about it and she told me that it does actually work, if you use it right. Twice a day after brushing, do not rinse out your mouth afterwards and don’t drink or eat anything for 1/2 an hour. In general, though, mouthwashes can kill many germs in your mouth that your toothbrush doesn’t get, obviously.
If you make a routine if brushing your teeth and follow all the right steps, their’s a good chance you’ll be able to avoid cavities. Obviously their’s no fool proof way to avoid them totally, but it is a good start down the road to staying cavity free.
