Taking The Birth Control Pill
One of the many complaints I hear from people about the pill is that they always forget to take their birth control pill. I was on the pill for a year before I got switched to something different. I only forgot approximately twice in that year. Want to know why? I had a watch alarm that went off at the same time every day. My watch would tell me when it was time for me to take another pill, so it didn’t matter if it would slip my mind.
So I am hoping that by sharing with you some of my advice, it will help you keep you on track with your own birth control habits.
- Take it with your morning breakfast. If you have a job and you get up at the same time every day, it might be the most convenient for you to actually just take the pill each morning with breakfast. After about a month or two, it’ll become routine for you.
- Buy a watch with an alarm and set it for the time of day that’d be the most convenient for you. This is actually what worked out for the best for me. I’d set it for the most likely time I wake up, that way I wouldn’t have any problems. On the rare occasion it’d go off while I was at the store, I’d just take my pill as soon as I got back to the car. So it still all worked for the best.
- Take it right before bed. If you have a set time that you prefer to go to bed, then this might work the best for you. It is almost like having an alarm because you’d have your mind set at this particular time already. The best part is that it’s the most likely time you’ll be home. The only exception would be when you are staying at a friends, etc.
I hope you find one of those tips helpful. If you find yourself taking any medicine daily, you might also find that these ideas could still be of help.
