Home Remedies: Ingrown Toenails
Ingrown toenails are a big pain in the butt. They’re mostly found on the big toe. That’s where I always find myself getting an ingrown nail too. The best way to stop getting them is to make sure you’re wearing a pair of shoes that actually fits you comfortably. Shoes that are too tight can sometimes be a cause for that problem. If for any reason it becomes infected, it’s best to go see a doctor about it.
If you look around your stores’ medicine isle, you might be able to find some medicines that are meant to help stop an ingrown toenail by softening the nail for you. If you don’t want something like that you can always give your feet a warm water Epsom salt foot bath. That will also help soften the nail.
If you’d like to avoid an ingrown nail in the future here are a couple tips:
- Keep your feet clean and dry.
- Trim your toenails regularly, but not too short. It’s the best idea to do it only after bathing that way your toenails will be soft.
- Wear socks and proper fitting shoes. Avoid high heels if you have a lot of trouble when it comes to an ingrown toenail.
