Simple Barbecue Chicken

This has to be the easiest version of Barbecue chicken, ever. It’s simple and it tastes good.

What You’ll Need:

  • Chicken
  • A big pan of water
  • A baking pan
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Tin Foil

Step 1:

If you’re buying the chicken from the store, make sure you buy it in sections. For example, thighs, legs, breasts and wings.

If you’re looking to skim fat from your diet, I’d recommend cutting the skin off the pieces before you get started. With a small sharp kitchen knife, that shouldn’t be too hard. Once you’ve done that, drop your chicken into a big pan.

Take the pan over to your sink and fill it up with hot water. This is where you’ll want to start your stove top. You’re going to be boiling the chicken. Once it’s filled with water, put the pan on the stove and cover it. Check on it every so often. I put the heat around medium on my stove, but I have a gas stove. So use your judgment. Just make sure you’ve got a good strong boil going on.

Your chicken won’t have to boil too long. I think mine was boiling for about 45 minutes. The amount of boiling time depends on how many pieces you are cooking. Use your judgment. Partially cooked is good. It doesn’t have to be fully cooked because the next part will be baking.

Step 2:

Take all your chicken out of the broth and place it in a pan that’ll be large enough for the amount you’ve made. It doesn’t matter if they’re jammed together, just no overlaying.

Once it’s all in the pan, now add your bbq sauce. How much you want to use will depend on how much you like it. If you don’t like a lot, don’t use much. If you love it, then be generous. Spread it out over the chicken.

This next step is important, add some water. Don’t cover the chicken, but not too low either. I let the water reach just below where it’d be covering the tops of the chicken in the pan.

Now you’ll want to set your oven to 375. While it’s warming it, you can now take out your tin foil and use it to cover the top of your pan, no gaps.

Put the pan in your oven and let it cook. For eight pieces of chicken, I baked it for just over an hour and it came out nice and perfect. If it doesn’t seem cooked well enough after an hour, you could always just leave it in there longer. If the water evaporates out of it, add some more. That’ll help ensure tender chicken.

And that’s it. Let it cool off and eat to your hearts content.
