Preparing For The Family Turkey Day Rush

Obviously with Thanksgiving coming up fast, their are many things you have to prepare for. If you’re cooking, then obviously you’ve got to prepare for the day by shopping for all the food you’ll need. But the hardest part for most people is getting together with the family.

If this is only an once or twice a year thing, then I have a few tips for you:

  • If you have in-laws or other relatives that you can’t stand, just remind yourself it’s only for one or two days a year.
  • If you have one of those relatives that acts like they hate you, and always like to say rude things towards you, ignore it. I know it’s hard to do, but by ignoring it you don’t give them the pleasure of a reaction which is what they’re looking for or if this is an in-law, talk to your significant other and see if maybe they can talk to them about the situation.
  • If you’re the one hosting the thanksgiving feast, and their is a relative that is just simply too tough to be around, just simply not invite them. Or you could set ground rules with this person before hand. Point out that they can’t cause trouble with others [and that includes you!], if they do they will have to leave.
  • Most of all, you don’t need to take any abuse from anyone. If it simply gets too unbearable, leave the situation. If you’re being forced to deal with a situation where a person has gone too far in your own home, take the advice from above. Ask them to leave. You can always talk to them about it at a later time when everyone has had time to calm down.

I hope everyone has a good turkey day this year, and won’t have to worry about problem relatives!
