How To Build Your Own Link Bid Directory

Many people might not realize that making a link directory isn’t as hard as it may seem. I’ve started my own and I’ve found that it was extremely easy and worth it! Step 1
You will need to buy a domain name. Think about what exactly you want it to be before you buy it. For instance, if you’d like to start Bob’s Link Bid Directory, think of ways you could shorten that down. www.bobslinkbid.com or something along those lines. Try different possibilities and consider other ends, .biz, .net, etc. Once you’ve found the perfect domain name purchase it and move on to step two.

If you already have a domain, and you don’t want to purchase a new one, make a subdomain! That is what I did for Ask Angel’s Link Directory.

Step 2

You will need to buy hosting. I would recommend asking around to see what people would recommend the most. I personally use 3ix.org and I find they work great. I’ve had absolutely no problems with them and I use the option which only costs me $12 a year. Either way, you’ll need a host to host your domain. Make sure you can use MySQL access and such. You will need that to be able to run the link bid script.

If you already have a host, then you probably already know what you have, and don’t have. If you have what is needed to run link bid script then you’re good to go onto the next step.

Step 3

Go to PHP Link Bid Script and follow their instructions for downloading. Download the file. From their download page you can also download website layouts and such for your link bid site as well. I wouldn’t worry about that, though, until you’ve gotten your own website set up and ready for the personalization.

To do that, just follow the instructions in the download. It’ll tell you what you need to do. Best of all, in case I forgot to mention it, LBS is free. Yes, that’s right, free. You can start a bid directory without having to pay for it. The only investment is your domain and hosting.
