Celebrating Valentines Day Alone

Not everyone has a significant other to celebrate valentines with, but that does not mean valentines day shouldn’t be enjoyed! So here are some tips for those that might find themselves single on this holiday and how they can make it a good day for themselves:

  • Spend this day with people you care about. You don’t have to be married or have a boyfriend/girlfriend to have people around you that you care about. Do something special with them. Go out to eat as a group, buy each other a few gifts. Prove to the world that single people can have fun without a significant other. All you need is people you care about.
  • Buy yourself something special. Just because it’s the day of giving to others, why can’t you do one thing for yourself? Maybe you could buy a cute outfit that’d you’d been admiring for a while, or some sexy lingerie to bring out some of your self confidence. Either way, doing something for yourself can make a somewhat lonely type of day ten times better.
  • If you’re a single parent, do something special with your kids. I’m a single mom and I know this valentines day I’ll be celebrating with my daughter. And their’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. Obviously your children are the biggest love in your life and they would probably enjoy getting to go out with mommy or daddy to celebrate Valentines day.
  • Go to a movie. It doesn’t have to be a romance. Go see something horror or funny. And enjoy that movie by yourself. After all, if you’re at the movies alone you don’t have to worry about anyone talking to you during it. Then you can also enjoy all the popcorn and other junk foods that they sell at the theater as well.
  • Have a girls/guys night in. For those single girls, have some of your single friends over. Watch some good movies, gossip, have a few drinks if that’s your thing. Same goes for single guys. Get together with some of your guy friends and hang out. Do guy stuff. Spending the holiday with your friends who are in the same boat as you makes it feel that much better. You’re not alone.

So if you’re single and not really looking forward to valentines day, I hope my advice will help you make the day a little, or a lot, better. After all, it’s just a day. No reason to let that get you down. Their are always people around that love you. You don’t need some boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife to make it special.
