Two Alternative Ways To Promote Your Blog

We’ve all heard the common advice of what you should do to make your blog as popular as possible. Submit to search engines, submit to directories, link exchanges, and etc. We’ve all heard it over and over again. We all know this. But what else can you do?

PR is pretty important. Their are a few websites such as PRWeb that will let you post a PR news release. Of course you could so this when you write a great article that you think a large variety of people would be interested in reading, you’re selling some new products through your blog, or you’ve just started up a blog that many people would find interesting.

Of course PR can cost money. It’s nearly impossible to find a place that will let you post a press release for free. Their is, however, a great website called Xomba where you can post original articles into their system to be found through web searches or make a social bookmark where you can write about an interesting website or blog that is available on the web. By using the social bookmark option, commonly known as Xomblurbs on their website, you can link to your blog or a specific post/article and do a little promote of it that way. On top of that, Xomba is a revenue sharing website so you have the ability to make some money from the google adsense ads that are shown with your article when people view it. So you actually get two benefits from posting on there.

My other idea isn’t the easiest way, but it can be very effective. Social Networking. Places like MySpace can be a great way to popularize your blog. Make bulletins announcing new posts on your blog. Give little teasers. Use it as your own way to get PR for your blog. Be being interactive with your fans on a networking site like that, people will be all that much more interested in you and your blog. You’re bound to gain more popularity as well. Although it has been a bit neglected - due to reasons where I didn’t have the time to update there - Ask Angel also has it’s own MySpace page.
