Thanks for drawing attention to the fact that those taking part in a home exchange should take care to check that their home insurance will remain valid while home exchange guests are living in their home.

Generally Home Base Holidays members find that their insurance companies are happy with exchanges as homes are much safer from burglaries when occupied than if left empty for weeks. When contacting your home insurance company be sure to make it clear that non paying home exchange guests will be living in your home and taking care of it while you are on vacation (as, otherwise, they may assume you are letting your home and that would involve a change to your insurance cover).
